Brian, our beloved maintenance man (who does many other vital tasks that arise on the farm too!) says that he can’t pick a favorite piece of equipment on the farm. “I work with our various machines everyday and find them all unique and different! It keeps my job interesting and it changes day to day depending on what the farmers need to use or what’s not working properly!” Everyone and everything is so important to the daily functioning of the farm.

It's Groundhog Day, Feb. 2nd. January has come and gone. The New Year with all of it's promise of resolutions and change and improvements has played itself out and where are you? Is this year like last year and the previous years--like the movie Groundhog Day, destined to repeat itself--where you've fizzled out and fallen back into your old lifestyle? It's going to happen again next year. And the year after.
Until you decide that you deserve it. That wanting better for yourself isn't selfish, it's necessary. That everyone screws up on occasion but that doesn't make them--or you--a screw up. That you have it in you to do the hard thing.
And then start again right now. It doesn't have to be New Year's Day or a Monday or any other special condition. Just start. And restart as many times as you need, but don't quit. Don't quit on your workouts and don't quit on yourself.
Because YOU are an athlete ❤️ #healthynewyear #fitfamily #worthit #betterstrongerfaster #justkeepgoing #workinprogress #wereallinittogether #youcandothis #personaltrainer #workout #wod #training #loveyourself @freedomfitnesscg

V i s i o n N i g h t. •• Tonight we take our time again to share our vision with our employees. The vision reflects our hearts for the hotel. It’s not what we already are but what we strive to become, day by day, and therefor the motor of it all. It’s what we look at when facing storms and what builds the fundation for the hotel.
Can’t wait for tonight! 🙌🏼 #surfhotelinthemaking #senesurf #wereallinittogether #employeeappreciation

Juice and Jesus 💖 💞
As anyone knows, a great start to any day is celery juice 🤪 🤣 and some time with my savior. 💕 Today is brought to you by 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “In all things give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”. I love the book “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young. It’s crazy how it meets me right where I am every day! I was a few days behind and wanted to get caught up simply because I didn’t want to miss anything, and not because I am trying to achieve some level of perfectionism by being 💯 consistent everyday. You see, perfectionism is a real problem 🤔 in several areas of my life, and if I can’t be perfect, then sometimes I just “give up” 🤷♀️...but I digress. What I want to share with you is this theme that I kept reading in my morning devotions is all about having a thankful heart 💜. Have you noticed that some people are always thankful? It’s easy to get all judgy 👩⚖️ and say to ourselves, “yeah, it’s easy to be thankful when they have a perfect marriage💑...or angelic children👨👩👧👦...or a crazy successful career commanding loads of respect...or no financial 💰 concerns. Yeah, it’s super easy to be thankful because their life is perfect.” N E W S F L A S H ⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️ there is N O such thing as a perfect life! The person who has a career and finances to boot may be struggling with infertility. The perfect family you see on social media may be holding on by a thread and trying to convince themselves that everything is alright by posting perfectly posed offspring. The thing is, when we change our mindset and choose to thank the Lord for A L L of it...even the struggles...we start to truly hold this thankfulness in our heart 💗. Maybe these people who appear to always be thankful really are always thankful because they’ve chosen to give thanks in A L L circumstances.
Throwing out the thankfulness challenge today what is one small thing you are thankful for today? I’m still thankful for these gorgeous flowers given to me yesterday by the kind man at Trader Joe’s. Today I am thankful for a very difficult therapy session yesterday that led to greater joy in my life today because I know my strength 💪 comes from the Lord!

I’ve found it to be challenging getting information out of my 3-year-old when I pick her up from preschool. Or we’re sitting at the dinner table, and I ask the age-old question, “What did you do in school today?” and the response I always get is “played” or “nothing.” I so much want her to open up and give me the juicy details 😆.
@chickfila provided these Table Topics of open-ended questions that get her wheels turning and I’ve been more successful in getting the dirt on who she plays with and who was naughty that day 😉 (although the answer is never her, so I’m not entirely sure how accurate her responses are 😆.)
I come up with a few of my own and we try to spark meaningful convo at dinner:
Where do you play the most at recess?
Who is the funniest person in your class? Why is he/she so funny?
When were you the happiest today?
When were you bored today?
What was the worst thing that happened at school today?
Tell me something that made you laugh today.
I’m trying to be intentional about putting my phone down or leaving the laundry for later. I want to look her in the eyes and learn more about this amazing miracle God gave me the opportunity to raise, teach and also learn so much from. I keep hearing I’ll miss these years so I’m trying to soak in the moments, as I find myself constantly wishing she was older and more independent. Can you relate? Any tips?!

This is what I tell my kids or at least am doing my best to. Imagine what the world would be like if all kids were taught this ❤️ (From @pamgrout’s LIVING BIG book)
Pablo Casals, the famous cellist, once said,
Each second we live in a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that never was before and will never be again. And what do we teach our children in school? We teach them that two and two makes four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are?
We should say to each of them: You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the world there is no other child exactly like you. In the millions of years that have passed there has never been a child like you. You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything.
In other words, you are not here to “get by.”
You are here to create the good, the beautiful, and the holy. You're here to dance, to spread love, to write symphonies, to give birth to the very best that is inside of you. You are here on this planet to love big. To think big thoughts, to dream big dreams.
