New shirts coming August 10th! •••
This line is called “ Urban Summer”. The focus was to give a summer feeling while also looking towards graffiti and street art. The yin yang symbol means many things but in this sense it is balance. Without balance you will never be able to see the whole picture.

The Afropunk Festival (commonly referred to as Afropunk or Afropunk Fest) is an annual arts festival that includes live music, film, fashion, and art produced by black artists. The festival started back in 2005 at Brooklyn Academy of Music, otherwise known as BAM. It has since expanded to other parts of the world. Originally co-founded by James Spooner and Matthew Morgan, the festival was inspired by Spooner's 2003 documentary film appropriately named Afropunk, whichspotlighted black punks across America and later culminated in a series of live shows entitled "The Liberation Sessions" co-curated by Spooner and Morgan. The festival originally sought to provide black people an opportunity to build community within the predominantly white punk subculture and to provide a stage for black alternative performers that were not acknowledged in the mainstream and stood outside hip hop, R&B, soul, etc. To attract a wider audience, the festival shifted to include soul music and hip hop, which expanded its target demographic, attracting headliners including Ice Cube, Lenny Kravitz etc. Musical performers now represent a variety of genres, primarily known to reflect African-American culture.

ICAN boy was drawn in my likeliness by @izythereal and colored by @sikoraent as a boy of color addicted to airplanes and exploring the unknown. This is the moment he realized the wings he possessed on his back and reframed his outer world.
One plane in the image has an eye. One plane has a heart. Look closely. I believe we are guided by the all-seeing eye which exists at the same altitude of love. “Way up there.”
Albeit, ICAN boy is a product of the eye/God/universe and a product of love. And through ICAN boy's wings (which he must first realize he possesses) he can soar with these entities, where he was conceived—where he belongs.
And while he cannot control the pain and destruction around him (depicted in the image of the book cover) he can in fact stand in confidence and validation that his journey is valuable. He symbolizes the moment anyone realizes that they have a circle of influence and a circle of impact in their life, just from existing. One person impacted or one million people impacted, the scope is unimportant. Value is in incarnation.
Each of us was gifted with an innate value to our environment, which, perhaps naturally, implies that we use our talents and abilities to serve our environment. The nightmares of crashing airplanes and the inevitable suffering coexists, yes, but the realization of the choice— “to do” “to do more” or “to make do” and the fact that YOU CAN and ICAN is undeniable.
