After finishing nights this morning, and over indulging on a double sitting breakfast with @em2805 , I decided I needed to get out on the bike and work off at least one mouthful of cake.
16mi in and despite being completely shattered from cycling into the wind, all is well. Until I realise I have a puncture. I wouldn't mind so much, if I hadn't just paid out £175 for a service (including new tyres) only to get a puncture in less than 20 miles. I cycled the length of the UK and didn't get ONE puncture in that time. How is this fair?
Reluctantly, I realise I will need to walk the rest of the way home, and the next song to come on the radio is Coldplay; "when you try your best, but you don't succeed..." How IRONIC.
As I'm just about to approach duck lake I actually have a change of heart and think, you know what? If I had to walk anywhere in any weather, this isn't a bad option.
On comes the next song...Chumbawumba..."I get knocked down, but I get up again..." I chuckle (actually, I am not sure I did, but you know, it helps with the story) and press on, with a spring in my step...or maybe it was a limp, from walking in cleats.
After pushing, lifting and carrying my bike for almost 2 miles, there is just one fallen tree to contend with before I get home.
On reflection, exercise is rubbish, and I should have just gone to the pub.

Game, set and Match!
Delighted to see the @narcissips bottles making an appearance at @wimbledon thanks to the amazing @_raisingthebarre
Wimbledon setting a solid precedent this year with a massive effort on the Sustainablility front focusing on several differing strategies from improved waste and transport management to enabling and encouraging reusables and better recycling practices. They also made a 100% swap to using renewable energy throughout the grounds!
They signed the United Nations’ Sports for Climate Action Framework to help meet and exceed the standards set by the Paris Agreement to accelerate the change needed to achieve climate neutrality - all quick wins when you look at some of the simple elements involved!
• They proudly announced that 80% of their visitors accessed the Championships via public transport, bikes or by foot utilising the championships many bike stations set up!
• They are building on last years waste achievements from sending none to the landfills by focusing on improving the amounts recycled correctly with "champions" parading the grounds helping ensure you know what can and should go where! (which is great cause still struggle to tell the difference between bins and id like to think im somewhat fairly well educated).
• They switched to 100% renewable energy sources supplied by EON to reduce carbon emmissions and are using nifty lil electric mowers for the grass!
• They removed all plastic bags used on the player rackets for protection and from the stringing processes leading to 4,500 fewer plastic bags used (shows you the simple thoughts and changes that can be made in all businesses - like remove the plastic from bananas and veg etc.) ..and last but not least, the simplest of changes - The installation of water fountains!
A key theme noticed has been the sightings of reusable water bottles everywhere this year!
Perfect for style, perfect for hydration, perfect for keeping that water cool on these blistering hot sunny days and perfect for the environment and your pocket!
Use your feet, take a bike, and grab some reusables!
Small changes to benefit you and the environment! 🌎
