Why me? Why this? Why now? Why does it have to be so hard?
Maybe the answers are simpler than you think!

“Suffering does not obey our ultimatums, but lament reclaims some of our agency.” — @jenpmichel
The news has made me feel powerless lately, suffering running out of control like an unstoppable train barreling down the tracks. Children separated from their parents, millions forced to flee their homes with nowhere to go, a nation turned so grotesquely in on itself that I no longer recognize it. What can I do in the face of it all?
I wake up suddenly, my throat dry and my voice hoarse, as if I had been shouting, screaming in my sleep. I had dreamt of yelling into the face of suffering, my insatiable pleas humbling the powerful, forcing them to change course. If only it were true. If only my railing and wailing would actually make a difference.
And then I realize. There is One to whom I can direct my grief and my anger and my heartbreak who does have power over kings and presidents and all who exploit the weak and the vulnerable.
I take a moment to lament, and the feeling of helplessness lessens and the train slows down a bit.

Let's get something straight: people with 'easy' lives--enough money, perfect health, safe neighborhoods, strong nations--are often impoverished in God's kingdom. Several times recently, I have heard Christians I know express surprise that people going through extreme hardship seem to posess so much gratitude and faith. Or, conversly, give thanks for their own trouble-free existance as proof that God has blessed them. Yes, blessings of peace and freedom come to the wealthy and lucky (thanks be to God--I'm one of them) but quite honestly, if we take the Beaitutides seriously, we should be a little surprised when the #winners of the world have whole souls. Ease, privilege, wealth--though these are in some ways blessings, they have a corrosive underbelly. Often, what I see wealthy people assume is peace is actually numbness, apathy, disconnection, or escapism. Real resiliance and trust is forged in the smelter of hardship, not success. Look, I'm not a fan of suffering for suffering's sake, but I cannot deny that all the best gifts I have experienced come directly because of grief and pain. All the people I admire most honor their failures alongside their successes. All the people who love well have tasted some kind of death. Let's not assume that we should aspire to be shiny happy people. #suffering #beatitudes #death #love #hardship #suffering #christianlies #blessing #wealth #escapism #numbness #resiliance #handletter #handlettered #handlettering #grief #blessedarethosewhomourn #failure

God really spoke to my heart about this and I felt led to share it.
In examining the scriptures I found that our view of affliction has changed in the modern church and in how we view it.
Affliction is not a curse from God, but a blessing because while in it we learn the truths of God’s word as we experience it ourselves. It then becomes personal, tangible, and transferable so that we can help others in their afflictions.
In this prosperity culture, we have lost something important: affliction is not necessarily a sign of disobedience.
It is a fundamental process of Christianity and our walk to partake in the sufferings of Christ so that we can help others in their walk with God after we process and learn things ourselves.
Paul the Apostle wrote out of his sufferings and God has used those sufferings he wrote about in divine inspiration to influence and build the godly character of millions if not billions of believers through the centuries.
These accounts of Paul’s sufferings come to life for us from his writings because he lived them personally and understood that those afflictions/sufferings were purposeful by God.
God meant for them to be a display of His glory and Christ crucified through the life of Paul as Paul’s life was poured out.
Paul eventually understood that affliction is a blessing and necessary process that God the Potter uses to sculpt us as vessels into the mirror image of Christ so that we become a masterpiece for His glory.
I pray this encourages you in your faith as you walk in the light of His love.
Be blessed! 🙏 #verseoftheday #bible #bibleverse #faith #affliction #suffering #trials

The sooner you except that life is not under your control and the more your try to “make things happen”, the more suffering you are going to experience. What we do then? Should we stop having goals, desires, dreams etc? Certainly not, we must continue to nurture and put in the work towards our dreams and desires BUT without any attachment to the outcome. That is the ultimate surrender. This path is also the path of the Karma Yogi. It requires you to completely let go of your ego driven life goals and surrender to the eternal flow of life. It is not easy but what are the other options we have? We can either accept our suffering and let go or keep up the resistance and wear ourselves out in trying to control everything. At least when you choose to let go you can slowly to start to enjoy life again and experience divinity in every experience positive or negative. The more you live like this, the more you start to go beyond positive and negative. I know we all suffer for various reasons and I am telling you that you can not undo the suffering but you can become the light that shines only when you turn off your ego’s control mechanism. I wish you all the strength and love in your journey. And if you are going through a bad time and have no one to talk to, feel free to send me a message. I am here to listen. 🙏 .
