Something I have not talked about in a long time is #weightloss . If you’ve known me long enough you know that I’ve lost over 100 pounds since 2010. I had my weight well under control for such a long time until I got pregnant with Matthew and something was transforming my body.. I got diagnosed with #lipedema #lipolymphedema . If you know anything about lipedema , you know that pregnancy/hormone changes can make it pop up and progress. My specialist dx me #stage2lipedema .. and said to me it’s inevitable that stage three come on as well as my #secondarylymphedema. I had two choices, let the disease defeat me or I was going to try and fight it best I can. So here I am again.. on another #healthjourney / #weightlossjourney . I am still me despite what my body chooses to be and I will never let my disease define me ! #iamnotmydisease

Me explaining to a surgeon the importance of Pacient education.
The prevention is simple: educate your Pacient about lymphedema risk after breast cancer treatment and tell them to do physical activity to increase the range of motion in the upper body 💪

Ok.... So I have checked into my personal suite at the Alfred. Much bigger than the room I had in 2013. Down the corridor from the room I had back then. Toilet and shower in-room. Nice view of the helipad to see and hear the life-flight choppers, and the further view down St. Kilda Road towards the city center. So, it feels familiar to me, y'all. I gotta get used to the hospital routine again. Try not to be too much of a grump when the pain gets above 7.5. Wenkie likes to manage(boss) but I know that's just her way. I'm gonna crash soon. I just know it. So I am trying to do as much as I can before then. Lots of whole-body pain right now. I'll be alright, tho.

There are no words to express how grateful I am to now be 170lbs from 230lbs a few years ago due to a chronic disease that is deemed incurable. Lymphedema has changed changed my life for the better. I am now more aware of my health than I've ever been. I am a Lymphatic practitioner, work for The Chikly Health Institute and love learning and providing education about the Lymphatic System. We should all feel empowered. Just because something seems like the end it doesn't have to be. It might just be the beginning to something greater. Remember to smile and know that everything has its purpose.

If you have Lymphedema in your arms, or have had one or more Lymph Nodes removed with no swelling, you should be wearing an #armsleeve when flying to help maintain and prevent swelling. #juzocompression makes tons of colours and patterns!
