RUNNING 🏃🏽♀️ I get asked a lot how I am able to run 3+ miles. I want to start off by saying that I have never been a very athletic person. To paint the picture, in 7th grade I tried to play church league softball and actually ended up slinging the bat the first time I ever hit the ball which left the umpire with 10 stitches. That was my first and last try of athleticism until my junior year of college.
As the pressure of life increased, I needed a way to de-stress and exercise. Prior to this, I couldn’t run 0.2 miles without being out of breath. i say all this to say, that I am not able to do this out of natural talent, but out of perseverance.
I got started with the C25K (Couch to 5K) app! This app allow you to work your way up to 3 miles and tracks your progress, which I found to be very motivating to keep working towards my goal.
Running and liking to run takes time. It also takes time to work up to running many miles consecutively and the key to getting to that point is truly mind over matter. Sticking with a plan like C25K and starting each run with “I can do this” really does help. There will be days that are harder than others, but keeping with it will pay off and you may even learn to love it!

I'm actually really super sad that I don't get to run Bloomsday in a few weeks in May. Of course it has been postponed until September. Hopefully this is over by then.
I'm just happy I got to walk amongst the famous running statues of Bloomsday in Spokane in February. I always loved them as a kid, but they have a new meaning as a runner.
