Every plant I use is sown & grown by me using permaculture values, which have a low impact on our environment. They are then preserved using traditional pressing techniques dating back to the Egyptian period. The plants species are hand stitched and mounted on hand made paper by GF Smith @gfsmithpapers
The Poppy( my favourite flower) is the plant of recovery and rest. It’s associated with Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams. A powerful symbol of dreams, vision and the psyche. Not forgetting the Poppys healing hypnogogic (hallucinogenic/narcotic) properties which have been used for centuries. The deeper rose toned poppies symbolise and encourage a passionate and deep love affair throughout the years.
Prink represents friendship, affection, harmony and approachability. It relates to unconditional love and understanding, giving and receiving of nurturing and protection. Pink calms and reassures our emotional energies, alleviating feelings of anger, aggression, resentment and neglect.
Yellow is uplifting and illuminating, offering hope, happiness, cheerfulness. Yellow inspires original thought and inquisitiveness. Its the colour of new ideas, enthusiasm for life and can awaken greater confidence and optimism.

I'm so happy to see the poppy project which I started working on with the children of Newburgh Mathers school over a year ago come to completion on Remembrance day yesterday.
The project began as the children doing something to commemorate the centenary of the end of WW1 in 2018. I worked with each child to paint a metal poppy using different shades of red metal paint. The results were stunning as you can see and now the poppies are up permanently in the playground as a piece of public art to go with the mural I did with the school children 10 years ago.
Some of the poppies have been kept back to be placed in a trail around the village over the next year or two.

Our kids did an amazing job yesterday, respecting and honouring all the brave men and women who have kept our country safe and free. 🇨🇦 I love that my job allows me to pass on the impact these ceremonies had on me as a kid. As the next generation of adults, they will be in charge of the world someday, and it’s up to us to instill in them the importance of peace and acceptance, and that a lack of understanding and open-mindedness is where peace falls apart.
If you’ve heard the recent Don Cherry comments, I just have a few thoughts. As a teacher of mostly children from immigrant families, I can tell you that they get it. Most of them told me over the last two weeks of their great-great grandfather who fought for Britain in the First World War, spoke of their bravery and their family’s pride, spoke of their gratitude to live in a peaceful country. They all wore poppies, and plenty of parents came out to take part in our ceremony. “These people” get it, Don.
Any time a group of people are lumped together in one comment, the ignorance is clear. It’s incredibly presumptuous to think you see a lack of poppies on the coats of people of a certain colour (because this seems to be his only qualifier for which people are immigrants 🙄), and immediately take that to mean that they aren’t grateful for the sacrifices of veterans, or don’t understand the significance of the day. Not everyone has the luxury of having the day off to attend ceremonies, how would you know whether or not they are acknowledging it where they can? Did you even ask them? What a novel idea. If you’re upset about lack of public support for veterans, don’t lash out at immigrants with your predictable, baseless diatribe. He’s always been a bigot and a dinosaur, and his firing was long overdue. Boy bye.
This is Canada. As @jagmeetsingh said, “There is no ‘you people’. We’re all as Canadian as the next.”

This weekend we were reflecting for armatistice and honouring all of those brave heroes in past and current wars. Saluting the fallen servicemen and woman who fought for the freedom we enjoy and take for granted today. 🇬🇧🇬🇧 'We'll Meet Again' 🎶🎵🎶🎵 We wore our poppies with pride and are thankful for those classic songs that helped to win the war and keep up morale during the most bleak times. The nation took a poignant pause to honour the fallen. ♥️🎖️ ♥️ in Flanders Fields by John McCrae ♥️ In Flanders' fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders' fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe;
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high,
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders' Fields.
