At least there is sunshine ☀️ I can feel my hips getting stronger with all my PT exercises so I tried a mile run today to see if I noticed any improvement in the last four weeks. Also because it’s my pups birthday and she loves running with me. Anyway, Nope. 👎🏻I feel like I am in the same spot I was four weeks ago but less in shape 😏Oh well now I am even more determined to learn to swim better and bike more, watched some YouTube videos last night! Happy #EarthDay ... almost everything I found (including the #zerowaste community) that has helped reduce our footprint was by accident. Naturally, many of the money saving techniques I learned while we were paying off student loans ALSO happened to be great for the environment. Why am I sharing this? Because there is a misconception that living with a lower footprint HAS to be more expensive. Are certain things? Yes. I will admit that my biggest issue with @aldiusa (my grocery store of choice for budget options) is all of the packaging. But SO many other things will help YOU save money and help OUR planet. If this doesn't tell you how crazy easy it is to gain weight, then idk what else to tell you. In the past two years, I've gained about 30+ pounds. Not because I'm lazy, but because the stress of school, working a full time job and maintaining a social life really gets to you. When life is so full, you tend to forget about your health. Well, I'm here to say that I'm done with that. I'm not in school anymore, I work part time and my health is starting to increase and get better. I'm tired of being the fat girl that can't keep the weight off. One day I want kids and a healthy lifestyle and I'M NOT GOING TO LET FOOD DICTATE WHAT I DO WITH MY LIFE!!!!!

At the start, we do things for ourselves day in, day out. We become selfish beings without a care for the rest of the world, our surrounding, our earth. As we progress in life, we learn from the world around us that respecting and taking care of our environment can only benefit in having a long life for all of us. In the end, we want to continue on this path of selflessness and make the world a better place then we found it.
All in all, if you practice nothing right now to ensure that we have a world 30, 40, 50 years from now. Practice to start respecting the environment, the earth around you; so you can live until 80, 90 without any worries.

13.1 miles. The longest distance I’ve ever run. I didn’t prepare as much as I would have liked. Actually the most I’ve run in 2018 was 4 miles 🙈, but I had some BCAA’s in my pocket and a YES mentality that I would run the entire thing no matter what. #mindovermatter #gotitdone ✅

A calorie is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree Celsius. Calories in food provide energy in the form of heat so that our bodies can function. Our bodies store and "burn" calories as fuel.
Energy balance plays a central role in health because it alone determines body weight. Energy balance, simply put, is the relationship between how many calories you consume and how many you burn. This important relationship has three possible outcomes: gaining, losing or maintaining weight. Because body weight and body fat percentage have an important role in preventing disease, it’s important to monitor calorie intake and make the necessary adjustments to maintain and improve overall health.
Several factors affect the calorie allowance for every individual but as a rule of thumb, for guys you need should eat 1500-1800 cals/day to loose weight, 1800-2200 to maintain and excess of 2500 (plus muscle training) to gain weight, while for ladies 1200-1400 cal/day to loose weight, 1400-1600 to maintain and excess of 1800 (plus muscle training) to gain weight. The importance of macros will be addressed later on.
Three things to remember:
1.Eating more protein, studies show, especially at breakfast not only help us build muscle, but keeps us fuller for longer, thereby leading to eating less calories through the day.
2.Volume eating is advised. Many fresh produce such as fruits (not juice) and vegetables have low calories per gram, which means you can fill up on them and still be in control of your calorie intake.
3.As much as possible, stay away from food with labels or learn to read them.

We went to #myrtlebeach for a few days this past week and it was Baby B’s and Jerry’s first beach trip! They had a blast!! ☀️ S/O to @boost_daddy for making it all happen. ❤️ I’ve been a little MIA and that can be blamed on our wonderful mini family vacation and salmonella poisoning.

You know what they say about creatives?! Most of them are manically depressed and in need of a muse… 👩🏼🎨
When I stopped drinking and started living clean, I found myself suffering from anxiety and isolating myself, in case I went out and slipped up! Although I’d made an amazing decision, I actually lost friends in the process who were like "Urgh... what's got into you lately?" - I was no longer the “cool kid” everyone wanted to hang out with and I can’t lie… that REALLY tore me up mentally BUT then I got into upcycling, one weekend, when I sourced a super cool, cheap piece of furniture but wanted to make a few changes to it! I had no art background/ experience but doing up furniture quickly became my weekend thang! I became so engrossed in the process that I started to forget those friends, the pain and the hardcore partying! My mental health improved! I found my muse. I found my focus. I found a way to embrace my new Lifestyle Change and I found something to do on the weekends other than feeling sorry for myself or pressing the “Self Destruct” button. Upcycling old furniture helped to upcycle me!
In the process of turning the “old” you, into the “new” you, you’re gonna have to put in work, make sacrifices and lose aspects of you, that you thought would always be a part of you, but once you start envisioning the finished piece, more than the sometimes, painful process, you’ll finally start loving you, regardless of who else does! You’re a work of art and art takes time! Love 🤟🏼❤️
