Some people may not know that I (with my husband) own the bar & grill in my small rural North Dakota town.
So I am literally surrounded with burgers, fries, all sorts of deep fried foods, candy, fountain pop, all the things which makes it incredibly difficult to be on a weight loss journey.
My mindset need to be straight every day to keep from eating everything in sight!
Now I’m not saying I never have a burger or some fries but eating that way everyday has gotten in the position I’m in, so even though I struggle with meal planning and healthy options I do my BEST!
I don’t like to cook (and let’s be honest I’m not very good either) so I keep my nutrition VERY SIMPLE!
There has to be balance in your life and you need to have nutrition that is sustainable for the long run which is why I’m so glad I have the simple system I have!

This Little Dog
She literally started whimpering when I pulled my suitcase out.
She laid on the clothes I was packing.
She even contemplated jumping into the suitcase.
We are in a year of major change.
My husband went back into the corporate workforce after almost two decades as a consultant.
One child moved to Spain.
One is back at college.
Hardest of all we lost her best friend Tucker to cancer.
All of this change has been stressful for all of us.
Daily workouts and my accountability community help keep me on track.
Holly gets lots of T.R.E.A.T.S. (Yes, she can spell but luckily can’t read.....yet)

So we did this thing on the weekend. It’s taken sometime for me to integrate as it was one of most powerful things I’ve been apart of

It was divine timing that Unleash the Beast, a Mens only workshop was on the weekend before internationals Men’s Day Nov 19th
Men from all walks of life, as young as 20 all the way to 50. Black whites, Samoans, kiwis, Americans, Asians, Fijians, Aussie battlers, Gym rats, a man from Belgium 🇧🇪 flew in to experience this! Men are looking for this type of space !!! #CMB
I could go through the stats of what’s happening to Men worldwide, but all you need to know that 50+ men came into that room with curiosity, nervousness, some scared AF to step into the room. At the end of Day 2 ALL the men walked out, a little bit taller, shoulders back, smile on their face, bit more confident, bit more direction, and their chest a little bit more puffed.
This is opportunity is full express who you are. Experience all flavours of the masculine and tap into our feminine essence. We learn, we grow, we heal, express, get angry and allow whatever comes up, come up.
Grateful to be apart of this mission.

~ Children’s Grief Awareness Day ~
Being a 12-year old child, what do you say to your best friend who’s just lost his father? At 16, consumed by finding out who you are, rebelling against whatever you can find and trying to control raging hormones, how do you deal with the death of a loved one? What about a 6-year old, how do they grieve the loss of their favourite grandparent and what can you do to support them?
Today is Children’s Grief Awareness Day. This organisation is doing groundbreaking and very important work in bringing attention to the emotional needs of children who are grieving.
We can only hope our children are spared from grief as long as possible. Adults have been able to practice communicating throughout their life and even with that experience they struggle with expressing grief. Besides expressing, supporting someone who’s grieving is still an awkward puzzle that some people rather put aside than try to solve.
As adults we do anything to protect our children from pain. In our loving efforts it sometimes happens that a child’s tears of grief and sadness are answered with a treat or a gift instead of the emotional support they need. Simply because we don’t know what to say and what to do. We have never been taught. A situation like this is an opportunity to ask the questions that get them to think, search for words to describe what they feel, and step by step learn to talk about their feelings and that it’s safe to do so.
The time is now for us adults, to educate ourselves in emotional health and support. The time is now to heal ourselves and reconcile with our grief and trauma so that we protect our children from our wounds and how they shape us. The time is now to teach our children that it’s okay to not feel okay, and to give them the tools to talk about their emotions and to support others in doing so.

Day 21/28: Bellport Bay. Breaking up my feed of oranges and browns for a warm fall sunset that can be seen from our front porch. Sometimes I get hung up on how small our house is and not having a designated studio space anymore but then I feel thankful that we are able to live so close to the ocean and that I can physically see it behind our neighbors houses while I paint at our kitchen table. What was once a dream is now a reality. Maybe someday we’ll actually live on the water, without any houses blocking our view. I’ll keep on dreaming. 😊☀️🌊🍂✨

Just the other day, the girl driving behind me threw up her arms in disgust as I was taking my daughter to preschool because I wasn’t going fast enough. Nearly an hour later the couple in line behind me at Target began getting impatient signaled by their loud sighs and hands on their hips as I was looking for a few of my Target coupons on my phone. It seems everyone is in a hurry.⠀
No wonder diets are so popular! They convince people of a quick fix to meet their goals. Only what exactly are your goals? Is it to lose weight quickly and then regain it and possibly plus some once you go off the diet? No one goes on a diet in hopes of regaining all the weight they worked so hard to lose. But the odds are against you when you begin a new diet.⠀
While it may seem hard at first, the long-term benefits of changing your lifestyle are well worth it. Make small sustainable changes every day that point toward good physical and mental health. Start in the morning by being kind to yourself and showing gratitude for everything that you have accomplished and the person you are. Em si, a adolescência é uma fase da vida caracterizada por uma série de mudanças, não só fisiológicas, cognitivas e psicológicas, mas também em relação aos papéis sociais a serem assumidos pelo indivíduo.
Desta forma, os jovens passam por apreensão para “acertar” na escolha profissional, que provoca uma insegurança. Assim como a cobrança pessoal: medo de não obter a pontuação exigida para o curso desejado, ter que esperar e se dedicar mais um ano para tentar novamente, visão de perda de tempo e, muitas vezes, a cobrança familiar também é outro fator de desajuste emocional, além da cobrança social.
Desta forma, a ansiedade pode estar dentre as causas da não aprovação neste processo. O medo e a insegurança são coisas que sempre estarão nos acompanhando enquanto nós vivermos, mas nós podemos aprender a conviver com eles e deixar nosso potencial e força de vontade dominarem. O controle emocional provocado pelo autoconhecimento pode evitar sentimentos de baixa autoestima, inquietude, frustração, ansiedade, instabilidade emocional e outros, atuando como importante exercício de bem-estar.

My absolute favourite saying is, "Get comfortable being uncomfortable".
Why?! Because comfort zones are SAFE and being safe will keep you exactly where you are. And chances are, where you are now, isn't always where you want to be. Whether it's your health, finances, relationships, career, life Etc. We need to push beyond this comfort and let our goals, wants and whys be that driving force to change, growth, exploration, adventure, new challenges, relationships,new successes, and truly living to create the life, body and mind we want for ourselves!
