PART ONE - Diary of Wilhelm Hoffman. A German soldier during the Battle of Stalingrad -- July 29th, 1942. - The company commander says the Russian troops are completely broken, and cannot hold out any longer. To reach the Volga and take Stalingrad is not so difficult for us. The Führer knows where the Russians weak point is. Victory is not far away.
August 23rd, 1942 -- Splendid news- North of Stalingrad our troops have reached the Volga and captured part of the city. The Russians have two alternatives, either flee across the Volga or give themselves up. Our company's interpreter has interrogated a captured Russian officer. He was wounded, but asserted that the Russians would fight for Stalingrad to the last man. Something incomprehensible is, in fact, going on. In the North our troops capture part of Stalingrad and reach the Volga, but in the South the doomed divisions are continuing to resist bitterly. Fanaticism... September 16th, 1942 -- Our battalion, plus tanks, is attacking the [grain storage] elevator, from which smoke is pouring. The grain in it is burning, the Russians seem to have set light to it themselves. Barbarism. The battalion is suffering heavy losses. There are not more than 60 men left in each company. The elevator is occupied not by men but by devils that neither flames or bullets can destroy.
September 18th, 1942 -- Fighting is going on inside the elevator. The Russians inside are condemned men; the battalion commander says: "The commissars have ordered those men to die in the elevator." If all the buildings of Stalingrad are defended like this then none of our soldiers will get back to Germany. I had a letter from Elsa today. She's expecting me home when victory is won.

Warning ⚠️ Puppy overload! Today we got our dream dog. Her name is Mille. She’s a Labrador F1 and she’s drop dead adorable. I’ve grown up with labradors but have been without a dogs for many years. But no hunter feels complete without a dog. I’ve spend a lot of time finding the perfect parents and breeder - and visited her many times the last 8 weeks. Im so happy we did our research and could never imagine a better upbringing than hers. She’s responsive, playfull, positive and always seeking approval. Everything you want in a hunting dog. I can’t wait for all the adventures we will have in the future. PS: If you are a total dog lover and want to follow her, my wife made her an insta: @mille_the_lab. #alwayshunting #dog #huntingdog #hunting #zeiss #mauser #blaser #hornady #labrador #pet #instapuppy #puppyoftheday #love
