Next weekend is my Lapidary club annual gem and mineral show. It is a great event to see and buy previous gems in the rough and faceted. Ready made jewellery and opals as well as other crystals and rocks are for sale. There will even be a fossicking area for children who will find some gems for sure. So come along and have fun. I will be there all weekend as the Show convenor so be sure to say hello. Look on the flyer for the address. #lapidaryart #fossickingaustralia #gemstones #brisbane #jewelleryartists

A 25 carat Czech moldavite, 22x16x11 mm, that’s going to get dopped up this week. The lapped bottom reveals that it’s flawless, but I’m going to lose plenty of weight removing some deep grooves on the long sides. Had to sit it right atop a very bright penlight to reveal the true color. Anybody have any tips on getting some hint of green from a stone so over-saturated?

50 pounds to 50 carats... I think I need to keep chipping away at my doorstop.

Silence is one of those things that as a culture I feel we have completely lost touch with and how pivotal of a roll it can play in our mental and spiritual health
As a whole we are so uncomfortable with it, that we even have the coin of phrase "awkward silence" which only becomes so when you allow it to be
I've been guilty of it as much as the next person. So please don't think that I'm putting myself above this. For example.. I'm walking along this magical snow covered ridge, stillness in the air, the only thing you can hear is the whispy sound of your boot breaking the surface tension of the snow. I stop to listen and there's nothing, complete and utter silence. For whatever reason a thought comes into my head during this meditative moment that says "Wow, it's so quiet". I hold back from actually saying these meaningless words but want to look into myself and say "okay captain obvious" haha.
It's so silly but there's some worldly part of ourselves that just won't allow the silence to be. We need it to be! For so much of our reflection and discovery of the unknown is found in the space created by silence. If we're constantly filling up our surroundings with words and random blurbs where will we ever find any room for expansion?
Take a moment today and every day for that a matter to allow yourself to embrace the quiet. Take those so called "awkward moments" and run with them! They can be the opportunity gifted by space and time to gain new perspective
A wise man once said "It is better to be silent and thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt". In saying this, don't be afraid to speak your mind or hold back from bringing something radical to the experience but most importantly know when it is your time
If you made it this far you are an absolute saint and I appreciate you dearly for taking the time digest what I've put into words here. May your day and days to come be filled with endless joy and expectationless love 🙏🏼✨💕 (not a word, don't care 😂)

This has to be one of the coolest moonstone pairs I’ve made. Swipe over to see the backs and all the gold trapped inside (it’s in both). Thanks Big Guy for the custom!

The sun came out today!! 🙌🙌 I’m still working on my batch of obsidian and they are coming along fantastically 😁 I’m trying to get as many finished today as possible as it will be time to switch gears tomorrow and work with a different material for Tuesday. I’m planning something I haven’t made in a while and something also not completely new, but different than usual 🤔 I’ll try to share more #wip pics of the obsidian today. Have a happy Saturday all! #stonephase #lapidary #handmade #obsidian #cabochon #ravencabochon #crowcabochon #lapidaryart
