Entering my 3rd week of this program(Halfway point) and loving every bit of it! So happy with the progress I’ve made thus far and completely committed to finishing it.
Catching the tail end of my workout today was a 5x10 of EZ bar Curls. Notice the full range of motion. Really focusing on activating the triceps at the end to make sure I’m getting full range of motion and stretch on the bicep. (A big mistake a lot of guys make doing any arm workout.) •

And another one. Trying to stay consistent with at least one 10k per week on Mondays after work. I actually bumped the distance of my lap up to about 8 miles by adding the summit of Blackjack Mountain (1371ft) which is more like a large hill than a mountain, but it definitely makes the run more challenging, especially since it is right at the beginning of the lap.

It might be a mix of watching #FreeSolo over the weekend, the fact that it’s mid-February on the East Coast, and that I’m itching to get outside, but at the beginning of 2019 I wrote a handful of lists.
I wrote a 2018 “year in review”, what were my highs, and what were my lows? Surprisingly, I had a lot of highs that mostly involved travel, but I also had a lot of lows when it came to personal growth, relationships, and my professional life.
So, I wrote some more lists. I wrote my resolutions in my notes app on my iPhone and on a piece of notepad paper that i taped to my bedroom door.
When I asked my friends and even some family members if they made resolutions this year, a lot of them laughed and said “why not just make a change any time of year?” “I don’t have any,” and “I don’t believe in them.”
No offense to anyone, but I believe that if you’re not setting goals, and if you’re not using resolutions as an excuse to make a positive change, then you’re not actively improving yourself. And I don’t like that type of cynicism in anyone, especially myself.
So I wrote my lists, I’m building my habits, and I hit a hard, hard wall this weekend. I made some stupid decisions, I let those stupid decisions snowball in to worse actions, and I did nothing but sulk and let my depression and anxiety take over this entire weekend.
But I took a moment today to look at what I have done in the ~2 months of 2019 so far...
I’m already halfway to my goal weight. I’ve adopted a pet. I’ve been writing and journaling consistently, without the need to publish things on social media. I’m already 2x ahead of the books I’ve wanted to read through this entire year. And I just booked a trip over Memorial Day weekend to Yellowstone. One of the state parks on the other list I wrote of places I would like to visit on 2019.
I’m trying to not let one bad weekend put me in a spiral of depression. I’m working hard to accomplish all of the goals I want to keep improving myself, physically, mentally, and in every other aspect. I’m expecting to fully look back on this year and think of 2019 as the time when things changed and i climbed the mountain. 🏔

A great bobcat just finished up. Predators are always a favorite to work but @coparkswildlife has me worried. The new regulations proposed would put so much in jeopardy for sportman in our state.

Every deer is different. Every hunt is different. Sharing stories, moments, and raw emotion about hunting with others is a timeless bond. ⠀
There is nothing more satisfying than a successful hunt for yourself, but sharing the moment with a loved on is pretty close. ⠀
Although I did not tag a buck this year, I was a part of my brother’s buck, Dad’s buck, and my cousin’s first buck. ⠀
These moments are what I live for, and will never forget. ⠀

Power Cleans: Building in weight, I worked up to a relatively heavy single of #275 (wait till end) on the final minute of a 10 minute EMOM. Lightweight baby! I love cleans, what’s your favorite exercise?!
