I’m saddened by the news of the break of Lower than Atlantis, had such fun memories of seeing them over the years and I’m heartbroken that it now has to come to end. Honestly the best guys who create incredible music and seriously one of the best live bands I’ve seen. To Eddy, Ben, Mike, Dec and everyone behind the scenes, I hope that enjoy your future projects and wish you the happiest futures! We shall continue to love you music. Thank you for giving us the music we needed year after year, thank you for making memories with us and thank you for helping me make friends through your band. See you in Birmingham and London next year!! I cannot wait for you guys to come back whenever that may be... until then let’s give LTA the best send off she’s deserves 👊🏻🖤 #lowerthanatlantis #lta #band #willmissyouboys #safeinsound #farq #worldrecord #changingtune #MikeDuce #DecHart #BenSansom #EddyThrower #ltaforever

Thank you, Lower Than Atlantis. (2007 - Forever)
Lower Than Atlantis have announced that they are calling it a day. I first got into them when my friend from college @eliot_ca mentioned them to me, by which point they had released 'Bretton', 'Far Q' and 'World Record'. It was the tracks '(Motor)Way of Life' and the b-side 'Grounded' that hooked me. They clearly had a Foo's and JEW influence, but their own kind of quirky sound. I don't know if was certain chords or what, but it was unique. Then in the January before I started Uni in 2012, they released the song 'If The World Was To End' and it was like 'Ohhhhh this is a band!'. The major label 'Changing Tune' came out and was a triumph in my opinion- it retained that LTA sound. That week, I saw them with my new flatmate @lucybelle93 for the first time and then went on to see them 5 or 6 times with other friends in Nottingham and Leeds over the years.
The self-titled record was a change in direction, but I liked it. Released at the beginning of my third year, along with Weezer's 'EWBAITE' and the debut from Marmozets. Then the re-release came, followed by their latest effort 'Safe In Sound'. The last album clearly accomodates a more mainstream audience, but it's still good work. I personally feel it just lost some of that unique spice the rest of their stuff had. Still, every band's output fluctuates and I write one song I like in every 70 at the moment!
It's sad they're going, but there's still a goodbye tour coming and I for one will send them off in the way that they deserve. That is me about 6 years ago with Mike Duce and I also met them a couple of times, one being when my friends in Seconds Apart convinced Chelsea fan Ben Sansom to record them and in the same conversation laughed in my face when I claimed Mourinho would come to United one day. At the moment, I wish I was wrong!
Thank you, Lower Than Atlantis!
