“Rejecting traditional materials, #GeorgHerold creates sculptures, assemblages and wall-based ‘drawings’ using commonplace items such as bricks, baking powder, wood lath, vodka bottles, buttons, electrical cords, underwear and mattresses usually altering them very little, if at all. As Herold said in 1988, “my choice of materials is not subject to any conscious esthetic criteria. The materials must merely be able to absorb and transport my ideas. I do not use materials that speak their own language as a matter of principle. This is why I seek out ‘stupid, unplaned’ material that does not raise any questions.’” #GeorgHerold #PetzelGallery .

Remarkably Broken Through
acrylic on canvas
This was very fun to make as I was working with tape and very straight shapes. I started with the textures underneath then painted solid blocks of color on top. I love the final effect that reminds me kind of shattered glass.

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful #nonbinary #trans woman as my better half. 💕 Being there throughout the process of transition has given me the #opportunity to think long and hard about what it means to be perceived as feminine or masculine. We have so many roles imposed on us from such a young age that even for me, someone who strongly identifies as and generally conforms to what's expected of a #woman by society, the rigid labels can at times feel stifling. And I know that for many, these labels cause pain. These thoughts have translated into a number of my pieces, where I explore what it'd mean to ride the binary line. This piece is the result of one of those self reflections. 💐
Today is #transdayofrememberance - an important and solemn reminder to celebrate and cherish those we love while they're here while mourning those taken from us too soon by violence. ✊ While I live and breathe, I will celebrate and honor anyone for choosing to be their truest self, and I urge you all to do the same. Simple #acceptance is the difference between joy and despair for our #transgender friends, lovers, and siblings. Just do what it takes to be kind. 🌻 🖋️: Sakura. Here are few closer captures of the textures created on my painting. .
If you try to findout about texturs ... you will see each and every thing on earth has it's own unique ones. Even the smallest molecules are textured. But we need a microscope to see their beauty as we can't see with bare eyes sometimes.
I love to watch and discover textures from the nature. Likewise love to create textures into my artworks as well.
That's one of the reasons I chose mixedmedia where I can play with lots of mediums at a time and the results are unique each time. .
🙋♀️🙋♂️ What about you? Have you noticed the textures around you? Which ones amazes you the most ?

I got a little wild with some Acrylics this afternoon. It’s so fun to play around with paint especially after days of focusing on realistic portraits. Deffo helps to loosen up and channel some creative energy into expressive work ✌🏻👩🏼🎨
