Step 2️⃣ of ‘travelling with allergies’ ✈️ .
The plane journey itself can be quite a stressful experience. Fortunately, my nut allergies are not affected through the air, yet some people aren’t as lucky as myself. If this is the case it’s so important to let the airline know well in advance. Personally I don’t like plane meals, therefore I don’t always inform the airlines. If I am flying long haul I will only eat familiar foods that are already in wrapping such as bread, crackers or yoghurts etc. Also I always bring my snacks (once again) 🍫🍪! I do however have a fear of people eating peanuts/nuts next to me as I despise the smell 🥜😷. Last week I was travelling on a plane and the person next to me was eating nuts and I had to cover my face for an hour! I personally don’t think nuts need to be on planes, there are thousands of other snacks that are nut free and SAFE . People who don’t have allergies really don’t understand the severity of them. Travelling in an enclosed space surrounded by your nightmare food causes serious stress and anxiety and this is why more awareness is needed! 🙌🏼 x

Did you know one in every 13 Canadians suffer from serious (life-threatening) food allergies? That translates to two children in every classroom, or, 7.5% of the population, or 2.5 million Canadians.
More research is needed to identify why so many people have life-threatening allergies, to find prevention and treatment options, and ultimately, to find a cure. CAAIF (Canadian Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Foundation) in collaboration with @top10challenge are helping to generate funds for more allergy research.
The Top 10 Challenge isn’t just a fundraiser, it’s an opportunity to live “a day on the plate of” someone you know or love with food allergies. The goal of the challenge is two-fold: (1) to spread awareness & empathy, and (2) to raise funds towards allergy research.
As a #challengeambassador, I encourage to join the movement and help raise awareness and funds for everyone living with serious, life-threatening allergies!
Together, through awareness, we will find a cure! ♥️

A heartwarming article from a mum thanking her family and friends for being so supportive: "When we have scheduled play dates, they make sure their kids stayed away from any peanut or peanut butter products". We too are blessed with wonderful, kind and considerate family and friends whose support enables us to have safe play dates and outings, so I too thank you!

Raising kids is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Adding in allergies and asthma into the mix has honestly made it 100x harder, especially when they’re still so little.
But you know what? I am soaking up these sweet years as much as I can. I love the innocence that Emma still has, especially when it comes to her allergies/asthma. So stay little my babies. Enjoy the moments where you can play outside & pick your mama flowers without a single worry on your mind. ❤️❤️

I know some of you are going through tough times lately, maybe due to food allergies or for other reasons. When you're struggling it can be easy to fall into black and white thinking, for example: ⠀
"Everything is awful"⠀
"Nothing ever goes right for me"⠀
I'm sure you can see that having these types of thoughts in your mind can make you feel even worse! 😩 But can you find any positives in your situation?⠀
When we realised my daughter had multiple food allergies I remember thinking "Why us? This is so hard! No one understands what it's like." And let's be honest, if I could get rid of my daughter's allergies, I wouldn't hesitate! However, now that some time has passed I can also see positives in having food allergies. For example, we each much more healthily now as we cook most things from scratch. And it has strengthened many relationships when friends and relatives have gone the extra mile to cater for our family's various dietary requirements!⠀
Leave a comment below and let me know what positives you have found as a result of having food allergies 👇 👇 👇 and I hope if you are in the thick of it right now that things get easier very soon 💛 💛 💛⠀

Hay fever refers to an allergy that affects the nose. It is triggered by environmental triggers including pollen, dust mite, mound, animal hair and grasses. It can occur at any time if the year however may be worse in spring. Symptoms of hay fever include sneezing, watery/ itchy eyes/ nose, nasal congestion and headaches. Blood tests and skin prick testing helps to identify specific allergens and exclude other causes. There are various ways to manage your hay fever:
1. Intra-nasal steroid sprays
2. Combined intra-nasal steroid and anti-histamine sprays
3. Non-sedating anti-histamines
4. Eye drops
5. Nasal decongestants (short term use only)
6. Allergen immunotherapy (whereby a person is exposed to gradually increased amounts of the allergen to improve tolerance and reduce symptoms - requires specialist referral)
Your GP will be able to advise you on the most appropriate treatment based on your clinical history.

Japanese food is the only kind of Asian food I feel safe eating, as there are less nuts involved in the cuisine than say Chinese food, where peanuts are used frequently. When eating out I think it’s important to understand the cuisine. I don’t eat at restaurants where the cuisine is notorious for the use of my allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, coconut, mustard, mango, and pineapple). It’s just too risky in my opinion. The more allergy friendly the menu is the better!
If you happen to be in the Morgan Hill area I would definitely recommend Hanami Sushi🍣🍱. The lady there is so sweet & she always remembers my allergies (perks of small towns) & how I don’t like sesame seeds either. I still like to remind her but she definitely cares about her customers and it shows ♥️

3 years ago, I began really venturing into cake decorating. It was the first time I attempted buttercream flowers, smoothing icing, and making a decorated cake for someone other than my kids. I remember feeling so proud of that cake from 2017. Haha!. It is fun to look back at my first cakes. Who would’ve thought that in 3 years I would be decorating cakes for your special occasions, developing recipes, and bring awareness to food allergies! Wow!.

Food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIAn) is a rare form of anaphylaxis that affects less than 1% of the population. .
But take note: There is some evidence to suggest that exercise is a cofactor, along with alcohol and asthma, in the onset of severe reactions to food allergens. In Oakley’s case, he had spent the hours prior to his fatal anaphylaxis playing multiple sports and this could have had an impact on his reaction. We will never know for sure. .
This topic comes up in the results of a case involving a woman who suffered FDEIAn at her wedding: 👉 http://bit.ly/FAexercise

Step 1️⃣ of ‘Travelling with Allergies’ ✈️ .
Packing and organisation is 🗝! I am on the ball when it comes to packing my ‘medical kit’. I carry this around daily but when I’m travelling my med kit gets taken to the next level. I ensure my epi pens are in date, I always take 2 inhalers and I take around 3 packs of antihistamine (one in my hand luggage, one in my case and another in my med kit) you can never be over prepared when it comes to allergies. One other thing I consider is the hand bags I will be using when I am away👜. They need to be practical and big enough to carry both epi pens and my inhaler. Finally, to be extra prepared I take a few snacks in my hand luggage and in my case. People with allergies know that you can’t just ‘grab a bite’ on the way. That’s why I pack a few snacks just incase there is nothing suitable for my dietary needs and nobody wants to see ‘hangry G’ !😇😅 x .

Is there gluten free dishes? Does this contain nuts?
Ugh they can be annoying as fuck right?
But guess what’s more annoying? Getting sick because of something you ate. It literally sucks. .
When working in a home that has an allergy I make sure I take the time to create designated Allergy zones in the pantry so that everyone who lives there knows what is and isn’t safe because I get it
As a coeliac I get how important it is to store food correctly to ensure I don’t get sick.. and by sick I mean shitting through the eye of a needle sick. IT.AINT.PRETTY.FOLKS
Oh and on a side note for those who think allergies aren’t a big deal.. kindly eat a bag of dicks. Gluten free if you need 👊🏻 #yourorganisedlife #melbourneorganiser #professionalorganiser #organised #declutter #pantry #allergy #allergyawareness #foodallergies

I always always always bring Emma’s food to every event that we go to. But today we attended another friend’s birthday party who has the SAME FOOD ALLERGIES AS EMMA. Crazy right? It was so nice seeing so many “safe” options for our girl and letting her have the same cupcake that everyone else was having 😭 These moments don’t happen often, but we are so thankful when they do! 🎉🧁
((Also, I told our friend, Leo’s mommy, that our kids should totally marry one day because not only are the both adorable and the same age, but they have the same allergies which means there’s no worries about CC 😜. I mean, hellooo?! Match made in heaven 😂🤞🏻))

We don’t have the benefit of eating out at restaurants in all the wonderful towns that we travel to, but on the positive side of life’s curve balls, we do pretty well.
With a little pre-planning, a great cooler, and creative allergy free cold lunch options; we benefit greatly from eating “out”-side at some of the most amazing places in the country.
