One of the most basic fundamental rules when the ball is swung over to you especially during a half court set is to sit low and establish a “Triple Threat” position. A lot of times I see players receive a pass and start to dribble without a purpose. When you utilize the Triple Threat you immediately pose a “Threat” with offensive options to either pass, shoot, or drive. In this clip, the ball is checked over to Jacob. Instead of putting the ball down aimlessly Jacob applies a triple threat along with several jab steps to see what the defender gives him. Although I’d like to have seen Jacob sit a bit lower, his stance still allowed him to create space between him and his defender BEFORE he even took a dribble to set up the hesitation (hesi). The hesi was also effective because he took a hard dribble towards the left side then quickly stopped on a dime, looked up at the rim and brought his off-hand very close to the ball giving the perception that he was going to shoot. 🙄 The defender bites and Jacob applies a counter crossover to the right leaving the defender off balanced.

When you know how good you are it allows you to be patient. It becomes about when, not if.

The human MIND is amazing in how it can learn new information, process it and store that information for future use. We learn by having information shared with us. We learn by having information demonstrated by others. And we learn from repeated imitation of our teachers. The young man in this video is Cameron Dimon, a 6 year old kindergarten student from the State of Maryland. I watch his videos on his father’s page @star_scream2017. Cameron has only been playing basketball for about nine months so his MIND definitely has a strong capacity to process new information and then imitiate what he has observed. Hand-Eye coordination is an important SKILL in all sports, and definitely in basketball. The first drill in this video is an excellent drill that Cameron is somehow able to make look easy, all while maintaining his dribble. Using the plastic on the ball makes it difficult to CONTROL the ball. So, when the plastic is removed the player feels like they have increased CONTROL of the basketball. It's important to train equally with either hand. If YOU struggle dribbling with one hand compared to the other, follow Cameron's lead; PRACTICE. PRACTICE Works! Thanks to Cameron, his father @star_scream2017 and his mother and the entire extended family for the videos. #improvepractice #basketballneverstops #ballislife #basketball #bball #pointguard #aaubasketball #youthbasketball #basketballpractice #basketballplayer #basketballislife #basketballcoach #shootingguard #basketballfundamentals #star_scream2017 #ballhandling

It's incredible watching today's great players make three point shots. Almost every player on the court today who plays as a professional has the three point shot as one of their many weapons. REPETITION, REPETITION, REPETITION. When YOU can score on a CONSISTENT basis YOU will always find a spot on a team and YOU will always get playing time. Your Coaches have probably already told YOU that no player is born a great shooter. It's all about the HARD WORK. Being a CONSISTENT shooter is difficult because it requires good shooting form, strong conditioning and thousands of shots each week to find your perfect shot. And it takes incredible DETERMINATION and DEDICATION to actually find the time to take shots every day. Taking 500 or more shots every day is a lot of shooting. But that's how players like Bojan Bogdanovic are able to make seven three pointers in an NBA Playoff game. He worked 25 years and has taken millions of jump shots to be able to PERFORM at a high level in a professional basketball game. If your GOAL is to one day be a great player YOU have to work today, and every day on your body and on your game. Believe in yourself and stay in the gym. Keep working. PRACTICE Works! #improvepractice #basketballneverstops #ballislife #basketball #nbabasketball #nba #nbaplayoffs #threepointer #bojanbogdanovic #indianapacers #pacers #victoroladipo #lancestephenson #domantassabonis #bball #basketballplayer #basketballislife #basketballcoach #baloncesto #basketballfundamentals

Sell you moves with your body. Good defenders aren't watching the ball. There called moves...get the defense to move

Why are some so concerned with other opinions. Don't let what someone else thinks of you matter more then what you think of yourself.

Players or parents are sometimes unable to see the truth because because they are blinded by their unrealistic expectations and sense of entitlement. The truth is every kid is not getting a scholarship...200 guys entered the NBA draft thinking they will be a first round pick, the truth is only 30 will... I'm all about have a goal and pushing yourself beyond your limits to accomplish it but the truth is we need doctors, sanitation workers and teachers even more then we need another NBA player. The truth is, the pursuit of the dream is the dream. The hard work and sacrifice you learn on the pursuit will serve you well in life. That's the truth.

Reps, reps, reps. That is the only way to get better

Yesterday I made some adjustments to a new clients shot, he did a great job of picking them up and shot great all workout. Ofcourse he was excited about the quick results but I had to explain that it was just step one. It will still take time and reps to make it permanent for his upcoming workouts. Adjustment can be made in one day but it takes time to make anything permanent. Patience plus work.

It's easy to want something but everything comes with a price. No one has it all. Everything is a give and take.
