8 months ago 7 years ago today, I was terrified about buying my domain name "fnan.co" and thought, whew, I have a website now, what am I going to do with it? Fashion? Business? Both? How am I going to find clients? Will this cover my bills or will I still need a job? Too many questions with not enough answers. But I wanted my actions to meet those ambitions.
That same month, September, I moved to Milan, enrolled to complete my degree & dared to send out an email to my contacts telling them I was in business. It said, "Hi, I just wanted to tell you I'm in Milan now & I started a business in the fashion industry. Let me know how I can be of service." - so vague yet so brave. haha
This September, my message has never been so clear, so focused that it connects me with inspiring clients & gets me the results I used to dream of.
So, dear friend, if you are trying to figure out what's next for you in general: I’m confident you'll figure it out little by little. Here are some things, though, I believe will get you closer to what you're looking for:
1. Listen to your heart. As corny as that sounds, it’s real. Most times, we know what we want but we’re not listening. When you say, "I wish I could do.." - that's your heart speaking. Replace it with, "Let me try” even if it's followed by "I don't know how but let's find a way." 2. Do one small act of bravery every day. They can change your life. My vague email connected me with someone from the Financial Times, who led me to attend an exclusive business event in London where I met Aliko Dangote: Africa's #1 Billionaire. My interaction with him changed my perspective of myself, hence, my life. 1 act of bravery, even if it makes your heart jump. Your future self will thank you. ❤️ 3. Invest in your education. Go to school. Enroll in a course. Read books. Find a mentor. Become a knowledge magnet & you will find the answers you’ve been looking for.
All this is to say, happy birthday FNAN.CO. Thank God for my naive heart for buying that domain name 7 years ago, because that website has been my ticket to freedom, in every sense.
Tell me - what small act of bravery can you do today? Bless my comment section with your thoughts. ❤️
